What more can be said about the legendary figure that is Jean-Pierre Robinot? Some would say Robinot gave natural wine, and the movement that came with it, the character and enthusiasm it was missing.
A one-time Paris wine bar and magazine owner Robinot now farms around ten hectares of land across the Jasnières and Coteaux-du-Loire appellations in his native Loire Valley, France. His plots are solely planted to some of the Loire’s finest Chenin Blanc and Pineau d’Aunis using organic and biodynamic practices. The wines are typically balanced with brilliant and stark acidity as well as generosity and opulence formed by the red clay, limestone and silex soils of the region which he tends by hand.
Quite simply, Robinot is a must-know producer – in more ways than one.
The Charme is a lovely Chenin Blanc that has been matured in old oak barrels. Lots of green apple and pear. Honey, minerals, and white pepper with some citrus on the back end. Decent acidity, mild funk and pretty dry.
Pairs well with a truly food friendly vino! Top match for crab, lobster or any richer seafood or fish creation. Creamy chicken pasta, cooked oysters, ham and cheese combos or pork studded with garlic and herbs are all great options, too.
Serving tip — The lighter the wine is in color and style, the colder it should be served to maintain its acidity and freshness
